Tales from the Lab: The Equipment Has Started Talking Back
By Michel Adams · October 27, 2026
There’s a point during a lab build when you’ve spent so much time with the equipment that it starts developing a personality. Denon has opinions. Forte would like somebody to read the fucking patch schedule. X32 insists he only sends what he’s told. Lil-Spark has started a disagreement with an illuminated cat, and somehow we now need an investigator.
Welcome to Tales from the Lab.
These stories grew out of our daily conversations while building MHT Labs. A channel stops working, then mysteriously comes back. A patch goes somewhere it absolutely shouldn’t. We finally get the processing and amplification working together, and the whole system comes alive. Somewhere between troubleshooting, coffee, and “what the fuck is it doing now?” the equipment started getting lines.
And honestly? Some of these assholes are funny.
They now have a permanent home on the Mad House Technologies website. Short episodes, recurring characters, questionable behavior, and FO-69 attempting to establish accountability in a room full of electronics that have already prepared their excuses. Watson keeps the records. Whether those records help anyone is another matter.
The lab work behind it is real. The equipment arguments are comedy. Please don’t use Denon’s testimony as a service manual.
The first four episodes are live: Unauthorized Fluid Discharge, The Resurrection of Denon, The Great Biamp Patching Incident, and Halle-Fucking-Lujah! There’s a strong-language advisory at the entrance. Take it seriously; nobody in that rack has expressed any interest in improving their manners.
MHT Labs is still taking shape. Apparently, it has a cast now.
Inspired by actual events. Unfortunately.
